Day 1: ARRIVE SANTIAGO, CHILE

Welcome to Chile!

Your Classic Luxury Journey begins with a stay in Santiago.

Discover Chile’s capital brimming with history and culture, considered one of South America’s most modern metropolitan areas. Drive around Santa Lucia Hill, where Santiago was founded. Head to the San Francisco church (built in 1586), the second oldest church in Chile. Visit the Paris-Londres neighborhood with its cobble stone streets and renovated mansions, reminiscent of the Latin Quarter in Paris, France. Make stops at the Presidential Palace, La Moneda, La Bolsa, Plaza de Armas, and Metropolitan Cathedral.

Explore Mercado Central, a historic landmark designed by Gustave Eiffel (best known for the Eiffel Tower in Paris). The market is famed for delicious seafood and other traditional Chilean dishes. Take a funicular to the top of San Cristobal Hill where there is a great 360-degree panoramic view of Santiago and where you can see the famous statue of the Virgin Mary. End your exploration with a visit to the bohemian Lastarria neighborhood, lined with cafés, restaurants, small theaters, bookstores, and boutique shops.

  • Accommodations: Hyatt Centric Las Condes Santiago

Day 2: SANTIAGO

Valparaiso and Casablanca Wine Valley

Head outside the city to explore the colorful bohemian town of Valparaiso and the wine growing region of Casablanca Valley.

Valparaíso is a UNESCO Heritage port city (founded 1536), which has merits to spare for it to face the 21st century with renewed vitality as a magical combination of modern city port and world cultural heritage city. Walk its cobblestone streets and admire the unique 19th century architectural style. Enjoy panoramic views of over 45 hills and experience the funiculars (cable cars) and the beauty of the cemeteries.

A highlight is a visit to the house of famed poet and Nobel prize winner Pablo Neruda. La Sebastiana, Pablo Neruda’s house, is where he created many poems about love and the sea. Get a glimpse of the poet’s life and inspiration.

Head to the wine growing region of Casablanca Valley, a cool coastal climate makes this region ideal for white varietals, and accordingly the Valley is known for its premium Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines. Visit a collection of wineries to sample a variety of delicious wines. Bodegas RE and Emiliana will allow you to immerse yourself in the local wine culture and get introduced to the ancient ways of wine production.
